This was the
first day of hiring in a couple of months.
I think there a lot of people excited about finding jobs right now. I had a really good group. Four people show up for a group
session and we had some shining stars. One of the nice things was that everybody was
ready for an interview. Everyone dressed
the part which has been somewhat of a concern for my boss right now.
My boss,
other employees, managers, and I have discussed the fact that sometimes people do
come to an interview dressed in street clothes.
Maybe they didn't know that they were actually being interviewed. Maybe I didn't make it clear that I'm going
to be interviewing for a job. To make
sure that doesn't happen again, I specifically tell each person I cold
call that even though you're going to be meeting with more than one person in the
room for presentation, I am going to be interviewing separately and
individually. I even reiterate that they
need to be ready for an interview. It
seems to work at least the first day.
Even better that
everyone who I made appointment with showed up today. Sometimes I think, "Ohhhh, no one is
going to show up," but today was
different in that everybody showed up.
I have a lot of
hope that I'll be able to get my hiring goals complete even though I don't have
enough people coming in for two sessions a day.
It looks like I will have people available by next week for two sessions. I have completed 1/10 of my goal, or 1/8,
depending on how many people I really need to hire.
I believe my goal is
somewhere between 30 and 40 depending on how many people come back to work next
month. If all former employees show up, then I
think it's somewhere between 30 and 35.
If I'm going to hire people to take place of people who left then I need
to hire around 40. So I have for
today. I think that five or six come
in tomorrow and then six more on Monday so far.
If I do that well then in 10 days, if everybody shows up and finishes all
the paperwork, I will have all the people I need for the company.
That's how you get
your goals.
