I started my day visiting one of the accounts nearest to our office. I wanted to start training in the store this week.
With our boss and my trainee, we did a quick visit to meet with the store manager, test out machines and barcodes, and figure out where the best place to train to get out of the way of customers.
We have to train before the store gets busy for the holidays. I look forward to really training in stores. It will help our employees have more confidence.
The rest of the day, I spent the day driving with my trainee. Our goal was to get in touch with all EDD job centers near our office.
From 9:30 am we visited 6 areas nearby, handing out flyers and business cards. It was nice for me, because there are areas I've never visited, at least that I remember.
We also were asked to run an errand for the boss: we had to pick up a laptop from our other office in San Jose. So more or less, we were in the car for 6 plus hours.
While I left my trainee to do the talking in the office, I kept the car running nearby, instead of having to pay for parking.
After getting back to the office, I let my trainee go, but gave her the assignment to write up all events for the day.
I have to say, she's good.
I spent the last few hours making cold calls to get interviews. I hope we get more candidates because it has been too easy to catch up on our applicant tracking system.
